Drawing a favorite character(s) and scenes opens a world in your mind where those creations come to life. Writing does the same thing as you create the vision the words evoke, that avatar breathes, moves, and becomes a part of that world. Its easy to create a character that simply looks interesting, but once you invest time in working out who they are, what drives them, and what they've lived through, they become so much more that a few bits of ink on a page, pixels on a screen. My characters, creations, have a life of their own in a world I want to share. I think the story of who they are would bring them to life and reveal who they really are... I have found some of my favorite artists on Deviant Art have a similar approach, both details character backgrounds as well as rock solid art to go with them...
Some of my favorite influences on Deviant Art include [link] [link] [link] and [link] They each have solid identifiable characters, stories, histories and backgrounds that come to life.
Well, while I practice the art, I need to continue to write which has been an old hobby, and time to polish up who my characters really are.
I'll start posting some short stories soon that will bring you into the work of Elysian and the Wolfpack; get to ride along with Candy, Amanda, Zero, Jason and more... Don't forget your body armor.
